Player ratings that come from your club

In PqlPlay a player's Competition Rating starts from the rating your club or a coach gave them and moves with every scored game they play. Because it comes from the people who watch them play, groups and games can be matched honestly.

Where a rating comes from

Club ratings and coach ratings give every player a fair number. The app shows the rating type, whether it is a coach rating, a club rating or a self-rating. A rating that gates a level-restricted community has to be verified, which means it comes from the club or a coach.

What a rating is used for

  • Sessions at your level. Some groups are banded by rating, such as 3.0 to 4.0, 3.5+ or beginners' night, so every game is competitive.
  • Level-gated communities. Players join when their verified rating sits inside the band.
  • Finding players at your level. Players see others at their level, with their ratings.
  • Club rankings. One list for the whole club, level by level, showing each player's original rating, how much their games have moved it, and the total. Players who would rather not be listed can switch themselves off. Rankings are part of the Club Tier.

Changing a rating

A rating is not a setting a player can toggle. Rating changes go through the club, which keeps the number trustworthy.

Which plan includes ratings

Ratings are included in the Rating & Rewards plan and in the Club Tier. A demo walks through what each plan includes.

Common questions

Where does a PqlPlay rating come from?

From your club and its coaches, the people who watch players play. A Competition Rating starts from that rating and moves with scored games.

What is a Competition Rating?

The rating that starts from the rating your club or a coach gave a player and moves with every scored game they play.

Can a player change their own rating?

No. Rating changes go through the club. Players can also see a self-rating, but a rating used to gate a level-restricted community must come from the club or a coach.

Why does an honest rating matter?

Anyone can call themselves a 4.0 in a group text. A rating from the club and its coaches means the games a player joins are matched fairly, and their progress is real when it moves.
